about

Recorded in 2002 in San Diego, California. Released nearly 20 years later, in 2020. Known as the lost album, North Dakota features 9 songs about love, loss and abandonment, and the effects of time. Several tracks on North Dakota were re-recorded. "Portrait of George Washington" appears on both Late Night At Largo (2004) and A Lifetime Ago (2020), "Grafton" appears on What I Mean To Say Is Goodbye (2005), and "Fit To Be Tied" and "The Horses Will Not Ride, The Gospel Won't Be Spoken" appear on North Dakota Impressions (Crossbill Records, 2016). The songs on North Dakota, Tom Brosseau's second album, are a pivotal point in his songwriting. Concepts and themes are being explored more in depth, and the notion of mythical writing. It's a quiet, yet important album.
